(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 proactive grant to the City of Greendale in support of the Heroes Memorial Park.

In a continuing effort to make an impact in the Dearborn County community, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each to charitable organizations in Dearborn County throughout 2019. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The source of the total of $15,000 in grants is the Foundation’s Community Funds (also known as Unrestricted Endowment Funds), established by donors to provide flexibility to DCF’s Board and staff to address changing needs in the community over the years.

The $1,000 grant to the City of Greendale was recommended by DCF Board Member Tim Russell of Greendale, who noted that the Heroes Memorial Park honors all veterans, police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel. The memorial stands along Ridge Avenue across the street from Greendale First Church of Christ, where Russell serves as Senior Minister.

“I believe that this is a worthwhile addition to our community in that it recognizes those men and women who daily serve others. Some of them have given their very lives to uphold and protect the rights and welfare of others,” said Russell. “Some have given their lives for this great country of ours. Others put their lives on the line each and every day in the service for others that we may live in the freedoms that we possess.

“As you visit the memorial, you can't help but have your emotions overflow with tears and gratitude for those who represent the very best that our country has to offer. Thanks to our veterans, police officers, fire department and EMS.”
